Maryanne Jacobsen bought a set of oil paints in February 2006 and fell madly in love with all the lovely colors in the box. She then picked up a palette knife and the magic of creation began. The love affair is still in high gear over three years later and Maryanne feels truly blessed to have found one more passion in a life that has been filled with artistic accomplishments. Maryanne has been a musician, ballet dancer, choreographer, graphic designer and photographer throughout her life, and has found much personal satisfaction in her love of the arts. The former founding director of West Chester Ballet Theatre and Regional Director of Rock School West in Pennsylvania, Maryanne hung up her ballet shoes for good after an unexpected move to Florida in 2005 and soon replaced them with a jar of mucky turpentine. Although she began painting later in life, Maryanne actively seeks out mentors and workshop teachers who can help her improve her artistic abilities. She has studied at the Ringling College of art and taken master workshops with Robert Liberace, Hodges Soileau, Julie Hanson, Louis Tedesco and Jon Greeley. In her short painting career she has had her work exhibited in dozens of juried as well as solo shows, and has taken home numerous awards and honors as well. Maryanne’s work has been selected to hang in numerous government and business establishments throughout Southwest Florida, and her work is in private collections throughout the United States as well as abroad.
