Leah Sherman, owner of Collectors’ Gallery & Framery in Venice, Florida will travel to Barcelona Spain, 8 September 2011 to meet with the internationally known artist, Didier Lourenco.
People interested in scenic beauty and easy living with style are continually drawn to Venice, Florida. And one such person is a collector of the work of Didier Lourenco who would like to take her collection to the next level. According to Leah Sherman, “Many of Didier’s lithographs are available at galleries in the U.S. including Collectors’ Gallery & Framery but most originals and limited editions are only easily accessible in Spain.” Thus, the need for an acquisition trip to Barcelona where Ms. Sherman has arranged to meet with Lourenco in his Studio. She is hopeful of making an art purchase for the Venice collector.
It is not surprising that someone who is attracted to Venice is also attracted to the work of Lourenco. Lourenco, the son of an artist, was born in 1968 and has spent his life, first in his father’s studio and now in his own, painting what he calls “small moments” The artist is known for his depictions of seaside vignettes of people enjoying simple pleasures. Perhaps, Lourenco is best known to many for his “bicycle man”. His rich color and images of the sea, palm trees and casual living fits in well with South Florida chic.
This global view of Sherman and her Gallery is also not surprising. During a leadership workshop held by the National League of Cities in April 2011 a major theme was that “we live in an increasingly globally connected world, and in order to succeed, local economic development must reflect this reality.”
